One way or another, the Alabama School for the Deaf’s Homecoming game against Florida was bound to be memorable.Josh Snow made sure it was memorable for the right reasons.
Snow stole the ball away from an FSD ball-carrier late in the fourth quarter, and returned the turnover 65 yards for a touchdown to give the Silent Warriors a nail-biting 27-22 victory over the Dragons.
The victory was an especially sweet one for the Warriors (3-1), who were hosting FSD (0-2) for Homecoming, and as part of the sesquicentennial celebration for the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind.
Snow’s recovery was actually the second time ASD advanced a fumble in the game – earlier, offensive guard J.D. Williams scooped up a loose ball and advanced it 40 yards for a score to put the home team up 21-8.
For the game, Snow scored twice. His first – a 49-yard run from the tailback position – put ASD up 6-0, and he ran in a two-pointer to make it 8-0.
Kwentavious Boyd made the score 14-0 in the second quarter, with a 75-yard touchdown.
FSD rallied in the second half to take a 22-21 lead, before Snow’s heroics provided the final margin.
Boyd led ASD in tackles, with 14. Jerrod Cunningham added 13 stops, while Caleb Potter recorded 10.
ASD returns to action on Friday next week, hosting Victory Christian at Kiwanis Memorial Field.
