Ashville beat Moody

The Ashville Bulldogs ended a four-game losing streak recently by upending Boaz 59-44. They then lost to Douglas before beating Moody Saturday. They are currently 5-5 on the season.

Ashville 59, Boaz 44

Four Ashville players scored in double figures as the Bulldogs beat Boaz 59-44. They led 17-8 after the first quarter, 27-14 at intermission and 42-31 after three periods.

Zavier Newton pumped in 15 points to lead Ashville. Taurus Ford totaled 12 points while Demarcus Jones and DJ Cone added 10 points each. Jordan Teal chipped in six points while Barry Woods scored five points. Eric Fuller added one free throw.

Douglas 69, Ashville 56

The Bulldogs found themselves on the losing end of a 69-56 score against Douglas. They trailed throughout the entire contest as they were down 17-12 after one, 37-24 at the break and 50-36 after three quarters.

Jones led the Bulldogs with 15 points. Teal added 11 points while Ford and Woods scored eight points each. Cone contributed six points while Newton totaled four points. Fuller and Chase Seals had two points each.

Ashville 61, Moody 39

After a close first half, the Bulldogs outscored Moody 39-18 in the second half and went on to a 61-39 victory.

The Blue Devils opened the game on an 8-0 run before Ashville coach David Elrod called timeout. The timeout helped as the Bulldogs ended the quarter on a 9-2 run t make the score 10-9 after the first quarter in favor of Moody.

Ashville took its first lead with 3:21 remaining in the second quarter on a trey by Jones to make the score 20-19. Ford had the hot hand early on that kept Ashville in the game. The halftime score was 22-21 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The second half was completely controlled by Ashville as they led 43-31 after three quarters and went on to win the game 61-39.

Ford led the Bulldogs with 15 points.
