After losing to the Springville Tigers, the St. Clair County Saints bounced back with a 56-53 win on the road over Locust Fork to improve to 6-5 on the season.SCCHS 56, Locust Fork 53 (B)
SCCHS led 17-15 after the first quarter and the game was tied 28-28 at halftime.
The Saints outscored the Hornets 16-10 in the third quarter to take a 44-38 lead into the fourth quarter and they hung on to win the game 56-53.
Courtney Miller led the Saints with 21 points. Deontrez Brown scored 11 points while Warren Macon netted six points and dished out eight assists. James Shaw added six points.
SCCHS coach Bernard Bozeman said it was hard-fought win.
“Locust Fork is a tough place to play,” Bozeman said. “The guys played hard and strong.”
SCCHS 52, Indian Springs 30 (G)
The Lady Saints also improved to 6-5 with a 52-30 victory over Indian Springs. SCCHS was up 14-5 after the first quarter, 28-12 at the break and 41-17 after three quarters of play.
Courtney Witcher had a double-double as she pumped in 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Jennifer Moore was the leading scorer for the Lady Saints as she totaled 18 points. Kreshala Mickens had six points while Shemisha Watkins netted five points. Ashley Edwards and Sierra Hardrick scored four points each.
Locust Fork 55, SCCHS 24 (G)
The Lady Saints fell to 6-6 on the season after losing to Locust Fork 55-24 Friday on the road. It was all Locust Fork as they were up 17-3 after one, 30-10 at the break and 47-13 after three quarters.
Moore was the leading scorer for SCCHS as she pumped in eight points. Mickens pumped in seven points while Witcher chipped in six points. Edwards scored two points while Brianna Humphrey had one point.
