For the second time this season, the Ashville Bulldogs have put together a three-game winning streak. The two latest victories were at home over Oneonta and on the road at Pell City.

Ashville 48, Oneonta 35

A 19-3 run in the third quarter by Ashville was the difference in this game as the Bulldogs defeated Oneonta 48-35.

Ashville held a slim 13-12 after one quarter of pay but the Redskins controlled the second quarter and led 25-18 at the break.

Ashville’s third quarter run gave the Bulldogs a 37-28 lead and they went on to win 48-35.

Demarcus Jones led Ashville with 12 points. Barry Woods netted eight points while Jordan Teal and Taurus Ford scored seven points each. DJ Cone totaled six points while Zavier Newton had four points. Keith Rice and Eric Fuller had two points each.

Ashville 56, Pell City 55

The Bulldogs fell behind 6-0 to start the game but they never gave up and fought from behind to beat the Panthers 56-55 in a game that went down to the wire.

By the end of the first quarter, Pell City was up 18-11 and still in control at the break, 36-28.

By the time the third quarter came to a close, Pell City’s lead was 50-43. A trey by Jones with 5:47 remaining pulled the Bulldogs to within two at 50-48. Teal’s lay-up with 5:06 left tie the game at 50-50.

As the two teams continued to battle to the end, Cone nailed a 3-pointer with 1:48 left to give Ashville its first lead at 55-54.

Free throw shooting down the stretch was not good by either team. Ashville’s Newton missed a free throw with five seconds remaining. Pell City got the rebound and a shot by Nick Clements at the buzzer rimmed out as Ashville held on to the 56-55 victory.

Jones pumped in 16 points to lead the Bulldogs. Cone netted 12 points while Teal totaled nine points. Ford chipped in eight points while Woods added four points. Newton and Rice had two points each.

Ashville improved to 7-5 on the season.
