Tonight, the new Mr. and Miss Talladega College will be crowned. Saturday will start with the 19th annual Founders’ Week Parade. Later in the day, TC’s USCAA national champion men’s and women’s basketball teams will receive their championship rings. Saturday evening, President Billy C. Hawkins hosts a reception at his home. Sunday, TC alumna Helen T. McAlpine, president of Drake Technical Institute in Huntsville, presents the keynote address.
It’s a grand week celebrating 143 years since former slaves William Savery and Thomas Tarrant organized the college and secured its first building.
