St. Clair Baptist Association Director of Missions the Rev. Ben Chandler said it would be a wonderful opportunity to meet some Southern Baptist missionaries and hear exciting stories about how God is moving in the world today.
“It will be a stirring challenge to examine your own life and determine how God might use you in His mission,” Chandler said. “We can celebrate how God is at work in the world, anticipate your role in God’s missions and participate by making a commitment to an On Mission lifestyle.”
An On Mission Celebration Mission Fair and Rally will kick off the event today at Moody First Baptist Church. The fair starts at 5:30 p.m., while the rally starts at 7 p.m.
Then, May 1-4, there will be missionaries in 36 Southern Baptist churches of the St. Clair Baptist Association, including many churches in the Pell City and surrounding area.
Chandler said everyone is invited to attend the On Mission Celebration at any of the participating churches. Call 205-594-5173 for information about the On Mission Celebration at each individual church.
Churches in and around the Pell City area that are participating in the OMC include Arbor Baptist, Cook Springs Baptist, Cropwell Baptist, Heritage Baptist, Lister Memorial Baptist, Mt. Moriah Baptist, Mt. Pisgah Baptist, Mt. Pleasant Baptist, New Hope Baptist, Refuge Baptist and Riverside Baptist churches.
“In a sense, our world is growing larger,” Chandler said. “In another sense, our world is getting smaller. We now keep up with events and people all around the world, and sometimes daily. Those of us who are involved in The Great Commission, which Jesus gave to His church, find it necessary and intriguing to interact with people of different culture.”
Through OMC, people will be able to interact with missionaries from around the world.
“We will have 13 missionaries who serve with the International Mission Board of SBC, 13 or so missionaries who serve with the North American Mission Board of SBC and eight missionaries who serve within the state of Alabama or another state,” Chandler said. “At the Mission Fair, kids will be able to ask questions personally to the missionaries. Teachers can gain insight to the countries they may very well teach about in the classroom this year. Adults may find a venue for doing short-term missions overseas, in another state, or even here in Alabama.”
Chandler said the Rally will be a time for everyone to get pumped about missions and go back to their churches with a new vision of what God is wanting them to do for Him and even “where” He wants them to serve Him.
“The local church events will magnify what our God is doing all around the world,” Chandler said. “We will gain much insight if we participate. We will bring Glory to God if we align our lifestyle and our vocational life to His will. It will be an exciting week. Don’t miss out on what God is about to say through these missionaries”
