The Sylacauga Aggies basketball team prided themselves on outworking and having more depth than their opponents.

That mentally led the Aggies to being one of the best teams in the state of Alabama. Sylacauga’s accomplishments, like being ranked, winning the county championship, winning the area championship and advancing to the South Central Regional Tournament didn’t go unnoticed as they earned seven spots on the All Talladega County Basketball Team.

The Aggies landed six players on the team. Jaquan Threatt and Justin Browning earned first team honors. Donterrious Riggins and Chris Oden made the second team. CJ Knight and Shelby McElrath made the honorable mention team. David Ball earned Co-Coach of the Year.

The Munford Lions peaked at the right time and made a run into the AHSAA Class 4A Northeast Regional Tournament. The Lions were rewarded as they had three players to make the team and Isaiah Gaddis earned Co-Coach of the Year honors. Brandon Graham earned first team honors, while Deonta Allen and Jeremy Maxwell made the honorable mention team.

The Talladega Tigers had three players to make the All County team. Jamarkius Truss earned first team honors. The senior averaged 17 points per game and eight rebounds.

“He had a great senior year, Talladega head coach Chucky Miller said. “ He led us in most categories especially in rebounding and scoring. He can play any position. He was such a good rebounder we needed him to play around the goal, but also could shoot from the outside.”

Juniors Jacob Twymon and Christian Hutchinson earned a spot on the second team.

“Twymon is a real good offensive player, Miller said. “He can do certain things that probably other players can’t do with him being left handed and as tall as he is. I am just looking for good things from him. Christian probably led the county in shot blocking. In the first game of the year, I think he had eight against Anniston. He just continued all year. He is a very good defensive player, but he is also an excellent scorer. With Truss graduating we are going to lean heavily on those two next year.”

Semaj Roberson earned a spot on the honorable mention team. Miller believes the senior shooting guard was one of the best shooters in the area.

“Semaj is probably the best shooter in the county for the last couple of years,” Miller said. “He has been playing varsity ball for three years and I believe that we won 75 games during those three years. He was a part of a lot of years. He could stretch a defense, his range was unlimited.”

The Tigers of Childersburg had two players to make the team. Isaiah Jones earned first team honors, while Tyrell Garrett made the honorable mention team.

The Golden Bears also had two players to make the team. Sharrod Cochran made the second team, while Chris Gooden made the honorable mention team.
