Through his new book “Teaching in God’s Kingdom: A Guidebook for Those with a Desire to Enter Ministry,” Dr. Anthony Jones helps build a strong teaching foundation for those interested in sharing the Word of God.

“It’s all about the messenger,” Jones said.

“The book is about communicating God’s Word in the Kingdom.”

Jones said the book is not just for pastors and those looking to enter the ministry; it could also be helpful for Sunday school teachers and spiritual leaders looking to spread the Word of God.

“I want them to understand that the Word of God can be fun and understandable,” Jones said.

“You don’t have to be the pastor of the church to have a love for God’s Word.”

Jones is originally from Talladega, and his grandmother and grandfather were both pastors at the Church of God in Christ in Talladega, currently named Faith Tabernacle Church.

His church roots were the beginning of what would lead to a life-long love for the Christian ministry.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University, Jones went on to earn a master’s degree in theology from Oval Bible College in Lake Charles, La.

He then earned his Doctorate of Divinity and Doctorate of Theology degrees from Oval Bible College.

After working as a church superintendent at Borden Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Airon Reynolds, Jr., Jones said he was exposed to several seminars and conferences that provided much of the inspiration behind the book.

“This book is only 50 pages,” Jones said. “I just added it together and put it in one simple book for the people”

Among several guidelines in the book is one titled, “22 Deadly Sins of Lesson Preparation” that gives a list of 22 mistakes teachers and spiritual leaders usually make when preparing and delivering their lesson.

Another chapter titled “Teaching to Change Lives,” outlines the significance of teaching, what one can bring to it, and how effective teaching can change lives.

“It’s good for everybody. It doesn’t matter what denomination you’re from, you can be a teacher in the school system and still get something from it,” Jones said.

Since it was published about a month ago, Jones said book sales have been going well.

“I’ve gotten a really good response,” Jones said. “You could say I was shocked a little bit.”

The book is currently available on Amazon.com.

“If one person became inspired to be a better teacher, or became inspired to be a better communicator in the Word of God, I’d be completely ecstatic with that,” Jones said.
