That was a mighty big check that Alabama Power Co. presented to the AIDB Foundation Monday. Julia Segars, Alabama Power’s Eastern Division vice president, announced the gift of $500,000 for a new health center to be built at the Alabama School for the Deaf.

Segars and Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind President Terry Graham announced the gift to a packed house of students, staff and guests at AIDB’s annual convocation, adding to an already celebratory atmosphere.

Graham did not elaborate on the details of the plan for the new health center Monday, but those will be forthcoming.

Best wishes to ASD in the construction of the new facility, and thank you to Alabama Power for making it possible.
