“It was reported Dec. 6 and it took all night for us to find him,” Talladega County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Bill Kennedy said.
The alleged assault happened in the Sycamore area, and the suspect was found hiding in the Nottingham area where he was arrested around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 7.
He is being held at the Talladega County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Rape, sodomy and sexual torture are all Class A felonies that carry sentences of 10 years to life.
On Monday, the Sheriff’s Department made an arrest after an MD1 convenience store in Sycamore was burglarized between 4:28 and 4:33 a.m.
Among the items stolen were $9,871 in cash, $470 in coins, 38 cartons of cigarettes and six boxes of Black & Mild cigars.
“We recovered some of the property and after further investigation we found that Richard Paul Owens had broken into the store that morning,” Sgt. Josh Tubbs said.
Owens, 37, was arrested at the Sheriff’s Department in Sylacauga then transported to the Talladega County Jail.
His bond had not been set Tuesday.
