PELL CITY – Authorities are looking for a suspect believed to be armed and dangerous in connection with two robberies Thursday night.

Pell City Police Det. Jonathan Swiney said the first robbery occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday near Brookhill Apartments.

“A 17-year-old male was walking from Brookhill Apartments through the woods toward 20th Street North,” Swiney said. “He claims two or three suspects robbed him.”

Swiney said the victim said one of the men demanded his personal belongings, which the victim gave to him.

“After they got his personal belongings, they told him to leave and he ran away,” Swiney said.

Swiney said the second armed robbery occurred just after midnight at Shadydale Mobile Home Park.

“The victim arrived home and was about to get out of her car when a man approached the vehicle with a shotgun,” he said. “The man demanded her purse and cell phone. She gave them to him and the suspect ran away.”

Swiney said both robberies were reported to the Pell City Police Department.

“The victims gave a similar suspect description, which led us to believe the robberies were related,” he said.

Swiney said a 16-year-old male, who was arrested in relation to the Brookhill robbery, gave authorities information that led to the recovery of property from both robberies.

“The suspect is described as a young black male with dark clothes and a red bandana,” he said. “Do not approach him. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.”
