Congratulations to Lisa Dawson, formerly of Sylacauga, who is scheduled to perform with the soprano group Soprani Compagni Friday at Carnegie Hall, one of the best-known performance locations in the world.

The daughter of a Church of God pastor, Dawson lived in Sylacauga during her high school years and graduated from SHS in 1983. Her music teacher there, Suzy Hammonds, remembers her as a talented and delightful student, and said she is not surprised that Dawson is getting this opportunity.

The group performs pieces written for soprano voices, and they hope this exposure will open up new opportunities for them.

We wish them all the best, and hope her story of success will help inspire others to set their goals high. Everyone comes from somewhere.
