Coosa Valley Medical Center president Glenn Sisk was recognized by the American Hospital Association as a “Grassroots Champion” for his work keeping elected officials informed on how major issues affect the hospital’s role in the community. It’s an important part of helping government decision-makers understand how policies affect how critical health services are provided. The details of managing day-to-day operations at a hospital present quite a challenge, and Sisk has taken a giant step beyond that to try to help guide governmental regulations.
He said it is vital to the missions of community hospitals.
In the field of education, Talladega County Schools Superintendent Suzanne Lacey was given a “straight A” report card by the system’s board members — for the second straight year.
Board attorney Charlie Gaines, who compiled the scores, said Lacey called wanting to know the exact scores to see where she could improve. He explained there are 10 categories of job performance evaluated by board members, and Lacey got A’s in all of them two straight years, a feat Gaines said he had not heard of before.
It’s great to see leadership that goes the extra mile in setting standards that should inspire others to seek excellence in other areas.
