Police Capt. Mike Brewer said a Talladega County Sheriff’s deputy discovered the body May 5 outside an abandoned residence on Alred Road just off Alabama 77.
“The body was a 5-foot, 6-inch white female that appeared to be in her 50s or 60s,” Brewer said. “She was wearing a royal blue shirt, dark blue sweatpants and white house shoes.”
He said the woman’s weight could not be determined because of decomposition.
“There was no identification on the body, but she had the name ‘Powders’ engraved in her dentures,” he said.
Brewer said the presumptive cause of death is lung cancer, however, toxicology results are not back yet.
