'Buy American' growing pains

For one Talladega County company with growing pains, the nuts and bolts of doing business are just that — nuts and bolts.

A Sunday story about AmeriBolt recounted the 12-year history of a machine shop that moved from Childersburg to Sylacauga for additional space, and then from Sylacauga to Sycamore because the business just kept growing.

That’s encouraging any time, doubly so in a recession, and even more at a time when free trade policies have made it so easy for corporations to export jobs to other countries.

Mike Jones and Dawson Pruett attended high school together, and are co-owners of the business. They’ve focused on finding new ways to serve their customers and watched their business grow, and they are finding that more people are looking for opportunities to buy American-made products.
