Congratulations are in order for Pamela Roberts and her fourth-grade class at Sylacauga’s Pinecrest Elementary School for winning second place in a national education contest.

With the award came two prizes valued at $2,000 each, a set of VersaTiles math instructional materials and a math fundamentals online course.

With so much attention in education being focused on math and science skills, those prizes are welcome tools for helping the students at Pinecrest learn skills to benefit them throughout their lifetimes.

We applaud Roberts and her students along with teacher Beth Patterson, Ethan Earley and Lakeisha Crocker, who were instrumental in the production of the video. They took the initiative to make and submit their entry in the competition. Our appreciation also goes out to the company that offered the prizes, ETA hand2mind, maker of VersaTiles.
