TALLADEGA COUNTY — The body of a white male discovered Friday morning on the side of Kentuck Mountain Road and MacIntosh Road between Munford and Oxford has been identified as Matthew Paul Howie, 19, of Anniston.

Howie was found lying dead in the roadway from multiple gunshot wounds and was discovered by a power company employee.

Talladega County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Bill Kennedy said Saturday investigators are currently waiting on Howie’s autopsy report for further details.

Kennedy did say that it appeared the body has not been on the side of the road for long and that “some people of interest” have already been identified.

Kennedy would not say where the multiple gunshot wounds were located on Howie’s body, but said that the shooting was done with a small caliber handgun.

“The Oxford Police Department and Talladega County Drug and Violent Task Force and District Attorney’s Office are all investigating,” Kennedy said.

“We’re still following leads. If anyone does know anything please call us.”

If anyone has information, call Kennedy at 256- 761 2141.
