PELL CITY — Global Championship Wrestling has a special guest superstar. And she goes by the name of Honey Boo Boo.

In case you don’t know who Honey Boo Boo is, the 6-year-old is the newest reality star on The Learning Channel.

Honey Boo Boo, whose real name is Alana Thompson, is making a guest appearance at GCW’s Fall Brawl at the Pell City Civic Center Sept. 29.

GCW promoter Maddog Dan Sawyer said this is a great cross promotion for their show and the GCW show.

“They are real nice people,” Sawyer said. “They are just reality TV superstars. I’m glad she is coming and I hope people will come out and see a national celebrity. They are more popular than Jersey Shore and the Kardashians. That’s pretty amazing to me.”

“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” is an American reality television series that debuted on TLC in August. It is a spin-off of Toddlers & Tiaras.

Honey Boo Boo and her family are from McIntyre, Ga. One of the GCW wrestlers, New Sensation Steve Stiles, is from McIntyre, and Honey Boo Boo wanted to come support her favorite wrestler.

“This is just awesome, and this is the first public appearance she has made outside her reality show,” Sawyer said. “They’ve never done anything like this before.”

Sawyer expects this to be the biggest crowd ever at a GCW event in Pell City.

“There is limited seating, so get there early,” he said. “We are going to open the doors at 6:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. Honey Boo Boo will sign autographs and take pictures.”

Sawyer said everyone has to have a ticket to get in. Bell time is 7:30 p.m.

Civic Center Coordinator Nancy Crow said it is amazing that Honey Boo Boo is coming to Pell City.

“This is awesome, and I know there’s going to be a lot of ‘Southern flavor,’ but we will probably have our first sellout ever at the Civic Center from any event,” Crow said.

There are 10 matches scheduled at Fall Brawl, and the main event has Mr. O’Hagan challenging GCW champion Micah Taylor for the heavyweight title.
