PELL CITY — She is the talk of Pell City, and she arrived in town Friday at about 6 p.m. at an undisclosed location.

Reality TV show star Honey Boo Boo and her entire family are in Pell City getting ready for tonight’s Global Championship Wrestling show at the Pell City Civic Center.

In case you don’t know who Honey Boo Boo is, the 7-year-old is the newest reality star on The Learning Channel.

Honey Boo Boo, whose real name is Alana Thompson, is making a guest appearance at GCW’s Fall Brawl tonight, and doors open at 6:30 p.m. She will be signing autographs and making photos.

GCW promoter Maddog Dan Sawyer said this is a great cross promotion for their show and the GCW show.

“Honey Boo Boo and her entire family are here,” Sawyer said. “There’s Chubbs, Pumpkin, and I don’t know what the other one’s name is. Sugar Bear is the daddy, and he is straight out of the hospital from his 4-wheeler wreck. We are glad he is here, and he is the one who is the big wrestling fan.”

Honey Boo Boo and her family are from McIntyre, Ga. One of the GCW wrestlers, New Sensation Steve Stiles, is from McIntyre, and Honey Boo Boo wanted to come support her favorite wrestler.

Sawyer said Stiles is fired up.

“He is so glad someone would make the four-and-a-half hour trip to see him wrestle,” Sawyer said. “He wants to see that it helps GCW because he believes in what we do. He’s a great Christian guy and loves to perform at his best when he is in the ring.”

All of the money made from autographs and pictures goes straight to an anti-bullying campaign.

“Alana and her family are just really good people and they have great hearts,” Sawyer said. “People need to come on out tonight and see that television brings these people to our homes every week, but they are just regular folks like people living in Pell City or Ragland.”

Sawyer said Alana has her own personal security team coming in because everyone wants to see this child.

“We are glad to have them here in Sweet Home Alabama,” Sawyer said. “They have heard Roll Tide and War Eagle so many times, it has been like getting ready for the Iron Bowl. It’s going to be a big day for this city.”

Sawyer said Nancy Crow at the Civic Center has worked so hard in getting everything ready for tonight.

“We have people coming in from Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, just to name a few places,” Sawyer said. “The people of Pell City have earned this. They have supported GCW for eight years now, and that’s why we enjoy filming out television show from here. There are a lot of deep-rooted wrestling fans here from the 1970s and 1980s. Bullet Bob Armstrong, Haystacks Calhoun, the Fuller family, just to name a few. This is a great event tonight, but people need to come back Nov. 17 for the Southern Legends Fanfest because Bullet Bob will be in Pell City.”
