Childersburg defeated Talladega 20-0 in the 2013 Talladega County Baseball Tournament on Wednesday.
Childersburg jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning.
Alex Bentley scored on a pass ball to put the Tigers on the board. Trevor Bates scored the second run of the game on an errant throw in a run down between third base and home plate. Reeves Brashear to scored 3-0. Justin Baker drove in Peyton Logan on a double to make it 4-0. With the bases loaded Bentley walked to bring in a run to increase their lead to 5-0.
An error on the second baseman on a Bates hit allowed a runner to score from third base to give Childersburg a 6-0 lead.
Childersburg increased their lead to 9-0 in the fourth inning. Will Donahoo hit a double to bring in two runs to give Childersburg an 8-0 lead. An error on the catcher allowed Justin Baker to score to make it 9-0.
In the fifth innings, Childersburg exploded for 11 runs on eight hits to increase their lead to 20-0.
Matthew Bishop earned the loss for Talladega.
Walker Holmes earned the win for Childersburg.
Munford defeated Talladega, 16-8 to advance to the finals of the north bracket. A full recap of the Talladega-Munford game will be in Friday edition of The Daily Home.
