It was not clear if the man, Kevin Davis, 25, had an initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
According to Interim Police Chief Jason Busby, Davis allegedly called Walgreen’s in Talladega, saying he was speaking on behalf of an emergency room doctor. He requested 20 hydrocodone tablets.
The Walgreen’s pharmacist then called the emergency room to check on the prescription. The doctor the caller had cited was working, but denied authorizing the call.
Talladega police were waiting when Davis came by to pick up the prescription, Busby said, and was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
