The company that had contracted to operate the Talladega course, and was also operating a course in Calhoun County, ceased operating due to financial problems and litigation between its partners.
City manager Brian Muenger hired that company’s course manager as a temporary city employee to continue running the course until a new contractor is found. Muenger said he has already talked to several interested groups, and promised all previous memberships will be honored.
The action means the course will not suffer a lapse in maintenance, and golfers can be back in action for the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
Muenger demonstrates efficiency and attention to detail in handling municipal business, and his quick action in this situation will both ensure the course remains in good condition and that it remains open for recreational golfers.
