The home burglaries involved residences on College Street, Pine View Landing Apartments and Broadway Mobile Home Park. In all three cases, a flat screen television set was the only item reported missing.
According to Interim Police Chief Jason Busby, the cases do not appear to be directly related. Captain Leon Thomas indicated that there was a suspect in the Broadway burglary, but not the other two.
The first business break-in was Saturday between 5:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. at High Rollers on East Battle Street. Stolen items here included two handguns, a rifle and a 52-inch Vizio flatscreen TV of undermined value.
The second break-in appears to have taken place a few hours later at Fred’s. The burglar’s here attempted to steal two DVD players and a 32-inch TV, all of which were recovered. Busby said the suspects were able to make it over a fence into a wooded area without getting caught, but were on video.
