According to Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore, deputies were responding to a domestic violence call off Forest Glenn Road in Oak Grove sometime before midnight Friday. When they arrived, he said, a male subject who was believed to be involved in the domestic incident came out wielding a firearm in a threatening manner.
Kilgore said one of the deputies responding to the call discharged his weapon.
The man was initially transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, Kilgore said. He was later transported to University Hospital in Birmingham, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, according to the sheriff.
Kilgore added that he believed the man was expected to recover, but could not comment any further, pending the ABI investigation.
