“We are going to come in and play sound, fundamental football,” TC Central head coach Damien Dorsey said.
The Fighting Tigers had several players go down with injuries in the last few weeks. During this week’s practice the younger players have gotten to see more action.
“We had a good week of practice this week,” Dorsey said. “We got the guys in that needed the reps and the backups were able to get some reps.
TC Central (1-4) fell to Wadley, 32-24 last week. The Fighting Tigers led 16-6, but missed opportunities and turnovers allowed the Bulldogs to outscore 26-8 in the final 26 minutes of the game.
“We were up 16-6 on the 18 yard line,” Dorsey said. “I told them if we score right here we put the nail in the coffin, but we were unable to execute with 50 seconds left. They get a big play on the weak to our 40. With 27 seconds on the clock, so they do a halfback pass for a touchdown to make it 16-12. Kick off they don’t run the clock and it brings us out to the 50.
“With three seconds left, I call for a play for Jeremy Allen, but the ball was picked off. They took it in for the score. We had a chance to tie the game, but we threw an interception in the red zone.”
Vincent (2-2) enters tonight’s game looking to get back on track. Last week, the Yellow Jackets fell to Ranburne 21-18. Dorsey said his team is going to have to execute on every play in order to have a chance to win tonight.
“We need to do everything we need to do on each play to get it done,” Dorsey said.
