While every person and every business is an important part of the texture of the community, nominations in seven categories brought special recognition for outstanding contributions to life in and around Pell City. All are to be congratulated.
Those named for the top honors this year were selected in appreciation for their impact on the community.
Matt Mitcham, owner of Mitcham Financial, was named Citizen of the Year for his exemplary civic work in the community.
The law firm of Trussell, Funderburg, Rea and Bell earned the top award in the professional services category, noted for innovation, professionalism and integrity.
Top honors for Retail Excellence went to the Publix supermarket, noted for customer service and community involvement.
The Tavern of St. Clair was chosen for the Dining Excellence award, noted for proactively meeting changing market trends and offering a good value on a variety of menu choices.
The Goodgame Company was honored for advanced technology, quality control, innovation and value as the Industry Development Award winner.
Pell City’s Rotary Club was recognized as the Nonprofit or Service Club of the Year as an organization that strives to make a difference in the community.
And the Lakeside Package store won the Emerging Business of the Year award for excellence in innovation, marketing, management, customer service and integrity.
The awards banquet offers a moment for business and civic leaders to pause and reflect on their roles and purpose in the community and to recognize the outstanding work being done by peers and contemporaries. It’s the kind of thing that helps build relationships in a community and improve the quality of life for people who live in the area.
