Michael Termaine Millender, 36, was being held in the Talladega County Jail on a $50,000 bond, Thomas said.
Millender was convicted of the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, served his time and was released from prison in June 2009. Thomas said the last time Millender registered his residence was in July 2011, when he said he was living at 310 Jemison Ave.
Thomas said when Millender failed to renew his registration, Det. Lisa Garrett went to check on him. The person living at his registered address said Millender had not lived there in a year and a half. Millender’s mother told investigators that her son moved to Detroit.
In the meantime, Thomas said, Millender got an identification card in Calhoun County, which also has felony warrants for him.
Millender was eventually found living in a trailer off a county road in Randolph County.
According to the Randolph Leader, Millender was discovered by Randolph County Sheriff’s Deputies who were looking for another offender.
Larry Dean Garrett, Jr., 33, was registered as living in a residence that was found abandoned. Millender was living in a residence where Garrett’s brother was supposed to be living. Garrett himself was apparently living somewhere in Talladega, although it was not clear where.
Millender was living with his girlfriend and her 4-year-old son, also a violation of his probation.
