Investigator Willis Whatley said patrolmen responded to a fight at 35 Martin Luther King Blvd. between 3:30 and 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, where they found the victim who had been run over. Later, Childersburg police stopped a vehicle that contained the man who had been stabbed.
Stabbing victim Roy Higginbotham, 49, was flown by LifeSaver helicopter to University Hospital in Birmingham.
Terrence Welch, 33, who had been run over, first was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center by ambulance, then was transferred to University Hospital by helicopter.
Whatley said Higginbotham has been released from the hospital, but Welch had not as of midday Friday.
He said apparently Higginbotham and Welch were the only two involved in the altercation.
Whatley did not elaborate on a reason for the fight. It was unclear what charges if any would be filed.
