Members of the council visited students at Pinecrest Elementary School and Nichols-Lawson Middle School recently to promote the Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State) Clean Campus program, which offers cash prizes to the top three state winners each year.
The program aims to create an awareness about personal responsibility in maintaining a clean and beautiful environment through accessibility of trash cans, creating art that promotes litter-free living and other activities. Raising that awareness is a good starting points for building lifetime habits that benefit the community.
Everyone plays a part in contributing to the type of environment they live in. Encouraging good habits in the city’s youngsters can pay dividends for decades to come.
