Sargent’s dedication and work ethic that make each race possible earned him the ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award.
Sargent has worked at the Talladega Superspeedway for the past 17 years.
He currently serves as the track carpenter and helps with general maintenance, including various construction jobs, track improvement projects and specialized lawn maintenance.
“David ‘Sarge’ Sargent has been one of the most valuable members of our team here at Talladega Superspeedway for 17 years,” said W. Grant Lynch, chairman of Talladega Superspeedway. “He not only has excellent carpenter and maintenance skills but he does some mean grass cutting sculptures. In addition, he is a fun guy to be around and has a humorous and engaging style that I really enjoy.”
Away from the track, the Lincoln native enjoys relaxing with friends, riding jet skis and watching Auburn Tiger football games. He has one daughter, Anna.
“Known for his dedication around the track, Sargent embodies the values of the ServiceMaster Extra Mile Award,” said Tom Coba, president of ServiceMaster Clean and Merry Maids. “He is always willing to go above and beyond, which has earned him this recognition.”
Since its inception in 2010, the ServiceMaster Clean Extra Mile Award has recognized 37 track team members across the country.
Award recipients are key members of full-time track staff and/or dedicated volunteers selected by track management personnel.
Each award winner’s name is engraved on a plaque that is displayed at the track where the individual works or volunteers.
A personal plaque is also presented to recipients during the track’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekend.
