According to Fire Captain Larry Vincent, the alarm came in at 4:19 a.m., with firefighters remaining on the scene until 8:06 a.m. Additional off-duty personnel had to be called in, with a total of 13 firefighters on the scene.
When the firefighters arrived on the scene, the house was already fully involved. Unable to enter, they were first able to fight defensively.
The house was a total loss with heavy fire, smoke and water damage throughout. The cause and point of origin were unclear Tuesday.
The house was occupied, although the resident/homeowner was away when the fire started, Vincent said.
