“Applications are available at the chamber office and on the chamber’s website,” said Erica Grieve, chamber executive director.
She said the “Christmas Celebration: The Greatest Show on Earth” parade is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12.
“The parade will begin at Pell City High School and end on Martin Street in front of the Bible Methodist Church,” Grieve said.
She said the parade fee is $10 each for general entries, and for each horse participating in the parade.
“There is no charge for chamber members,” Grieve said.
She said floats are judged at the high school, and music acts will have 1 minute to perform in front of the reviewing stand.
“Parade officials are eagerly looking forward to an exciting and entertaining evening and encourage all schools, bands, youth groups, churches and businesses, as well as civic, military, religious and service organizations to participate,” Grieve said.
She said a grand marshal for the parade has not been selected.
“Of course, Santa will be there,” Grieve said.
She said the chamber will not know the float categories until all the entries are submitted to the chamber office.
Grieve said if someone is entering a vehicle, it must be part of a car or truck club. No more than five vehicles per club. Each vehicle must be decorated.
She said floats must be at the high school completely assembled no later than 5 p.m. to be judged. All other applicants must be at the high school no later than 6 p.m.
Floats built by a professional are welcome in the parade but will not be eligible for a trophy.
She suggests that large groups meet at a convenient location and carpool to the high school, because parking is limited.
