St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell identified the victim as Johnny Matthew Link, 32, of Ragland.
Russell said Link, who was driving a 2006 Chevy Colorado, was transported to St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m.
Sgt. Steve Jarrett, public information officer for the Alabama Department of Public Safety, said Link’s wife and daughter were transported to UAB Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.
He said the driver of the 2004 Ford F-150, Casey Cromer, 27, of Pell City, was also injured and transported by ambulance to UAB Hospital.
Tyler Greer, a UAB Hospital spokesman, said Thursday that Cromer remains in fair condition at the hospital.
Jarrett said the collision happened at about 6:30 p.m., at the 233 mile marker on U.S. 231, about three miles north of Pell City.
He said Alabama State Troopers continue their investigation into the fatality.
“Once the investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the District Attorney for review,” Jarrett said.
