Richard Allen Bice, 42, pleaded guilty to harassing communications earlier this month. Two other misdemeanor accounts involving the dissemination of obscene and pornographic material were dismissed.
When Bice entered his plea, he was sentenced to pay a $100 fine, court costs and serve six months of unsupervised probation. He was ordered to have no contact with his victim while he is on probation.
Bice was arrested by Talladega police at the Career Technical Center at Talladega High School in May. The victim in the case was a 17-year-old female student.
Bice was allowed to stay on the city schools’ payroll and even appeared on this year’s class schedule before the criminal cases were resolved.
Had he been convicted of being a school employee having sexual contact with a student under 19 years old, he would have served up to a year in jail and be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.
