The 35th annual Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade is tonight at 6:30 with the theme of “A Sylacauga Christmas.”

The parade will follow the same route as previous years, starting at Sylacauga High School. It will continue up Broadway Avenue, make a right on Fort Williams Street, a right on Norton Avenue and end back at SHS.

Nemak of Alabama will serve as parade grand marshal after having been selected for the honor at the chamber banquet earlier this month. Also, in recognition of the establishment of the Joe Duck Society, the late Sylacauga businessman’s family and members of the society, which serves to promote the city, will be honorary grand marshals.

Floats will be judged at 5:15 p.m. and six awards will be announced the week following the parade. The grand prize is for Outstanding Theme, followed by the President’s Award, Grand Marshal’s Award, Chairman’s Award, Sylacauga Business Association Award and the Bleacher Shirley Johnson “Spirit of Christmas” Award, representing first through fifth place. Horses will be judged at 5:45 p.m.
