Tuesday night meant the official opening of Sylacauga’s Christmas season with the city’s 35th annual Christmas Parade taking off through town. The yearly event brings out the best in Christmas spirit from bands, floats, churches, individuals and businesses, not to mention the arrival of Santa in the city. Winners for the parade included Grand Prize winner and Outstanding Theme: Nemak of Alabama, also the grand marshal. First place and the President’s Award, Home Depot; Second Place, Grand Marshal Award, Omya; Third Place, Chairman’s Award, Westview Baptist Church; Fourth Place, Sylacauga Business Association Award, Knollwood Christian School; Fifth Place, Bleacher & Shirley Johnson; and Spirit of Christmas Award, Mt. Olive First Baptist Church of Goodwater.
