Of those cases, the grand jury handed down 57 indictments. The grand jury also dismissed 17 cases, no billed 20 cases and 13 cases were continued.
The grand jury reviewed audits from the Sheriff’s Office, the St. Clair County Commission, the St. Clair County Board of Education and the St. Clair County Health Care Authority and found everything in the audits to be proper.
The grand jury also commended St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy Donnie Howell for his work in serving as the grand jury bailiff and Gail Brewster for maintaining a clean courthouse.
The grand jury report, dated Thursday, also noted that there are 46 individuals enrolled in adult drug court, 17 juveniles enrolled in juvenile drug court, 40 people in the pre-trail diversion program and 333 defendants who are supervised by the court’s department of community corrections.
The report noted that 95 individuals have graduated from adult drug court and 34 juveniles have graduated from the juvenile drug court since their inception. There are currently nine veterans court participants.
