A 33-year-old Sylacauga man was arrested Dec. 4 and charged with first-degree burglary.

Gabriel Terrel McMillian was arrested at Talladega County Jail, according to a police press release, and bond was set at $75,000.

His arrest came after an investigation by Shane Bland of Sylacauga Police Department. Earlier this year, officers received a call about a burglary on West Park Street, and when they arrived on the scene, the homeowner had been assaulted and her vehicle stolen. Later that day, McMillian was found driving the stolen vehicle with items from the burglary inside. He was charged with theft that day, and the burglary charge was made once forensic results were available, police said.

Burglary first degree is a Class A felony, and may carry a sentence of 10 years to life in prison, if convicted.

Any information about a crime should be reported to Sylacauga Police Department investigations at 256-401-2464 or report anonymously at 256-249-4716.
