A Sylacauga woman is being held on a $5,000 bond after attempting to fill a forged prescription.

Edith Renee Edwards, 46, was charged with one count of attempting to possess a controlled substance, a class C felony, according to Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force Commander Jason Murray. The bond was set by District Judge Jeb Fannin.

Edwards was arrested after attempting to fill allegedly fake prescriptions for hydrocodone and oxycontin, Murray said.

The investigation into the forgery remained ongoing Thursday afternoon, Murray said, with other arrests possible in the next few days.
