Comer gets first win; TC Central, Fayetteville girls win

The B.B.Comer Tigers won their first game of the season in convincing fashion over Winterboro, 76-46 on Friday.

The Tigers jumped out an 18-3 lead in the first quarter. B.B. Comer lead increased to 37-18 going to halftime.

B.B.Comer head coach Carson Greer was pleased with the way his team pushed the ball in the first half. In the third quarter, the Tigers continued to control the tempo as they pushed their lead out to 54-34.

Martarius Mickens led the way for B.B. Comer with 18 points. Houston Ford scored 13 points, Darius Hale scored 12 points and Tyler Holmes recorded 11 points. 10 of the 12 players that played for B.B.Comer scored.



The Talladega County Central Lady Fighting Tigers defeated Vincent, 50-19 on Friday.

Savona Garrett and Destiny Garrett scored 10 points apiece to lead TC Central. Shakira Stockdale scored nine points for the Lady Fighting Tigers.

TC Central hosts Talladega tonight at 6 p.m.


The Fayetteville Lady Wolves improved to 4-0 with their first region win of the season against ASD, 53-41. The team got off to a sluggish start, trailing 14-4 by the end of the first quarter and still trailing 18-14 at the half. They were able to use a strong defensive third quarter and offensive fourth quarter to get the win, allowing five points in the third and scoring 21 in the fourth.

Brittany Snyder led the team in scoring with 16 points. While shaken up during the game, Kayla Williams finished the game with 14 points, eight of which came in the fourth quarter. Ledra Leonard had six points, while Madison Jones had five points, and both Dasia Crowe and Hailey Haynes had four points. Dailey Watson and Yasmine Brown chipped in two points.

Te’Chana Dunklin and Tuesdae Dunklin led ASD in scoring, as both finished with 12 points. Ashley Laster added nine points. Te’Chana Dunklin led the team in steals with six, while Tuesdae Dunklin led the team in rebounding with seven.

ASD plays at Winterboro Monday with tipoff scheduled for 5 p.m.

Fayetteville hosts Winterboro Tuesday with tipoff at 6 p.m.
