Members of the Talladega County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 23-year-old white male from Sylacauga Monday for a pair of sex crimes occurring in September 2012.

Investigator Josh Tubbs said the individual faces charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse of a child less than 16 years of age.

The perpetrator is being held at Talladega County Jail on a $150,000 bond set by Judge Ryan Rumsey.

Tubbs did not release any details of the crimes alleged and explained the investigation is still ongoing.

First-degree rape is a Class A felony in Alabama carrying a sentence of 10 to 99 years in prison if convicted. First-degree sexual abuse of a child under the age of 16 is a Class C felony punishable by a sentence of two to 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine upon conviction.
