TALLADEGA - Representatives from the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind named the institute’s new chief financial officer Thursday.

Lesley Bollendorf, who previously served as the chief school financial officer for the Calhoun County Board of Education since 2010, takes the reigns from outgoing Chief Financial Officer David Akins, who is set to retire Jan. 1.

Her previous work experience includes stints as the audit manager and account examiner for the State of Alabama Examiners of Public Accounts, accountant for Snead State Community College and a cost accountant for Tyson Foods.

Bollendorf graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

She assumes her role as CFO at AIDB Feb. 3.

“We are pleased to have Lesley join the AIDB management team,” AIDB President Dr. John Mascia said “She is well-known and respected in the education finance area and is well acquainted with the overall AIDB financial system through her past experience in the Department of Public Examiners. I am confident that we have an excellent team in place to ensure our continued emphasis on accountability and quality in our business services area.”
