Talladega police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a residence on Landmark Road early Monday morning.

According to Capt. Leon Thomas, the victim and witnesses reported being awakened by a knock on the door at about 2:15 a.m. When the victim went to answer the door, he found a man wearing a ski-mask and carrying what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol. Thomas said the victim then kicked the door shut, and the gun discharged once or twice.

Investigators found holes in the front door, but no evidence that any rounds had penetrated the door into the residence.

No further description of the suspect was available.
