Talladega police responded to two traffic accidents on the 275 Bypass Tuesday afternoon, with one person injured in each accident, according to Chief Jason Busby.

The first accident occurred at about 12:05 p.m. on the bypass between Angus and Renfroe roads, Busby said. The driver of a Ford F-150 was slowing down for a motorcycle when her brakes locked up, causing the vehicle to hit a guard rail.

The driver, Rachel Funderburg, 36, of Talladega, was transported to the emergency room of Citizens Baptist Medical Center. No information on her condition was available.

The second accident took place less than two hours later, at 1:49 p.m., at the intersection of the bypass and Alabama 77. The driver of a Toyota Avalon apparently ran a red light crossing 77 and struck a Nissan Altima.

The driver of the Avalon was not injured, but the driver of the Altima, Anthony Upshaw, 42, of Talladega, was transported to CBMC.

Information on his condition was also unavailable Wednesday.
