City Hall will have new flooring after the Pell City Council approved the low bid from a Georgia company to install new tile flooring.

City manager Patrick Draper said Smith’s Floor Coverings Inc. of Bowdon, Ga., submitted the low bid in the amount of $37,529 to complete the job.

He said the company will install new flooring throughout City Hall, excluding the Council Chambers.

Draper said the company will install the new flooring after normal work hours and on weekends.

He said it will take the company 4-6 weeks to complete the job.

At Thursday’s night meeting, the council also approved requesting proposals for administrative and architectural services for the 19th Street Community Center renovation project.

The city received a Community Development Block Grant in the amount $250,000 for the renovation project for the interior of the community center. The city’s match for the project is $100,000.

The council meeting was held Thursday night instead of next Monday night because of the Christmas holidays.
