“I’ve been a revenue officer for the past five years with the City of Talladega,” said Kim Davidson, who began as the new Lincoln revenue officer Dec. 2.
Davidson said she is a certified municipal revenue officer and a certified revenue examiner, which will enable her to perform audits for the city.
“The city recently implemented the new business license ordinance, bringing them into compliance with state law,” she said. “I did the majority of that work, re-categorizing businesses to the proper category set by the state. The laws are constantly changing, and you have to keep up with it as a city to ensure it’s fair for both cities and businesses.”
Davidson, who is from the Talladega area, has a daughter, Emilee, 13, and son, Zeke, 3.
“I came to Lincoln for the opportunity for growth, both in my career and the city is moving forward and I think I can help with that,” she said. “Everyone has been doing everything to make me feel at home.”
Davidson said she is working on guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure uniformity on how things are handled.
“I review state tax collections to determine any new businesses that may require licensing,” she said. “And I will share some zoning duties with Chris White (building/revenue official). The business owners have been very welcoming, and I’m enjoying it.”
