Sylacauga wins two in Big Orange Classic

Sylacauga wrapped up play in the Big Orange Classic at Hoover Saturday with a 55-42 win against Leeds.

Kadeem Jackson led the team in scoring with 19 points. Jonathan Crawford led the team in rebounding with eight, while also managing to block five shots. Daveon Nix contributed nine points and Rodney Gilbert chipped in eight points.

The team finished the tournament with a 2-1 record, bringing their overall record to 9-7 on the season. The Aggies have won four of their last five games.

The team also won Friday, 54-49 against Jackson-Olin.

Jackson led the team in scoring with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Gilbert was also in double-digits with 12 points, while Jaylon McGhee finished with eight points.

The team plays at Oak Mountain Friday with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Sylacauga ninth grade team also showed well during the tournament, finishing in fifth place after going 3-1. While the team lost to host Hoover, they won three games against Central-Tuscaloosa, Jackson-Olin, and Northridge.
