Talladega police are investigating at least three business burglaries taking place over the weekend between Christmas and the new year, according to reports available Monday.

The first of these was on Nimitz Avenue at Southeastern Apparatus. According to the report, Bright’s Welding and Fast Fire Apparatus are the victims.

The items stolen include a Lincoln 185 welder valued at $1,200, a Pit Bull sawzall valued at $55; two cobalt 4 and a half inch grinders valued at $45; a set of torch cutters with hoses and gauges valued at $300; two drop cords for the welders valued at $200; a Dana belt sander valued at $500; two Boss grinders valued at $50; a DeWalt jigsaw valued at $100, a Boss jigsaw valued at $100 and wire, lines and an ornamental handrail. A chain-link fence was damaged.

According to Capt. Leon Thomas, there were no witnesses or suspects in the case of Monday afternoon. The break-in occurred between 3:30 p.m. Dec. 26 and 7:30 a.m. Dec. 27.

The second incident was early Sunday morning, at Allegiance Staffing on East Street. A glass front door was smashed with a brick and a Sanyo 39 inch high definition television valued at $400 was stolen. Although there were other electronics inside the business, nothing else appears to have been taken, Thomas said.

The break-in was captured on the surveillance tape from the Piggly-Wiggly across the street, he said.

The third break-in was Industrial Machine Supply on Costner Street between Dec. 27 and early Monday morning. Stolen items here include three 5 foot lengths of 3 inch pipe valued at $2,000; rolled pipe valued at $1,000; an electric motor valued at $200; an electrical box valued at $500 and two complete rear end housings for 1957 Chevrolets valued at $1,000.

Although not technically a burglary, investigators are also looking into the theft of a truck and other property from Waites Concrete Sunday night or Monday morning.

In addition to a Ford F150 work truck, stolen items include a ladder valued at $150 and $3,000 in damage to a chain link fence.
