Area schools to delay opening Tuesday and Wednesday

Due the extremely cold weather, area schools will delay opening 2 hours today and Wednesday.

Dr. Dan Payant, director of operations for the Talladega County School System,

said school officials will continue to monitor the weather and advise the public on any other changes as they occur.

Talladega city schools will also be opening with 2-hour delays Tuesday and Wednesday, and will continue to monitor the situation both days. Information regarding any further scheduling changes will be sent out over radio, television, telephone and social media.

Sylacauga city schools will also delay the start of school 2 hours Tuesday and Wednesday mornings due to freezing weather conditions.

Pell City and St. Clair County schools will also have 2 hour delays today and Wednesday.
