Authorities are investigating a rash of burglaries in and around Pell City.

The burglaries happened Tuesday and Wednesday. There were five burglaries on Tuesday and one Wednesday.

The burglaries occurred during the day, on Hazelwod Drive, Breakfield Lane, Edgewood Drive and 8th Avenue North, Pell City.

Police Sgt. Don Newton, public information officer for the department, said there is nothing concrete to link the burglaries together.

“There is an active, on-going investigation,” Newton said Friday.

Two burglary cases happened on Hazelwood Drive outside the actual city limits. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department is investigating those two burglaries.

Newton said residents are encouraged to stay alert and to report anything out of the ordinary to authorities.

“They don’t need to hesitate in calling us and letting us check it out,” Newton said.

He said anyone having information about the burglaries can call the Pell City Police Department’s anonymous tip line at 205-338-8899. The normal police telephone number is 205-884-3334.

Items stolen during the thefts included cameras, televisions, computers, jewelry and money.

There was also damage to doors of some residences.
